The Point! Video Broadcast

With Host Kelly Jo Horton
This episode was taped on July 27, 2007″To The Point” – International: NATO and the US seem to be losing an important battle in Afghanistan despite the pronouncement by President Karsai that the battle for his country is clearly being won. There has been a dramatic resurgence of the Taliban. Who is really in control of Afghanistan, President Karsai or The Taliban? National: The Democrats in Congress currently have a lower approval rating than President Bush. Is their strategy of focusing almost entirely on ending the war in Iraq failing, or do they have a long-term strategy that will pay off for them in the 2008 elections? State: In the first six months of this year alone, the Chinese government uncovered over 34,000 separate cases involving the production or sale of sub-standard food products. With statistics like this, how can Oregonians protect themselves against possibly tainted goods? Local: Two 13-year old boys in McMinnville are due in court on sexual harassment charges for slapping the backsides of two teenage girls in February. If convicted the boys could spend up to 10 years in Juvenile detention. McMinnville District Attorney, Bradley Berry, said the acts could have “longstanding consequences for the alleged victims.” Has Bradley Berry gone too far?
