The sanctions include banning specific individuals and companies from doing business in the U.S. Banking system, with any U.S. business, or with any U.S. citizens. Are these sanctions really going to work?National: State Representative John Dingell of Michigan has made it clear that Democrats do not intend to refund a $50 million grant program for abstinence-only sex education. Dingell says he considers the funded programs “a colossal failure.” Does abstinence only education really work?Statewide: The Oregon Senate recently gave its approval to ban high-fat and high-calorie snacks, drinks and entrees in the public schools. While this sounds great in theory, will it really do anything to help the epidemic of obesity in young people?

Local: Democrats want to send a Measure 37 rewrite to voters in time for the November ballot. The new version would outlaw commercial development among other things. Are voters having a case of voter’s remorse, or are Democrats just trying to repeal the law that was passed?
